Jewelry boxes have been around for centuries.  People tend to think of women when they think of jewelry, but back in the day Kings and Pharaohs wore jewelry to symbolize power and prestige.  Men have worn jewelry as a social status, to mark their place in a tribe, and to represent marriage.

No one, it seems, is immune to the appeal of jewels.  Men and women alike have been using jewelry to compliment their wardrobes forever.  The wedding band seems to be the most popular jewelry item for men.  The diamond wedding band for men is more subtle than women's wedding bands but coveted nonetheless.

Today more and more men are embracing jewelry.  We see it everywhere, from rappers with their giant bling to men with their status symbol watches and rings.  Men love jeweled cufflinks, bracelets, and money clips.  Also, with the earring making its appearance on men and going mainstream, more and more men have a variety of different earrings.

So where to put all this jewelry is the next logical question.  Where back in the day, men might have had a watch, a ring and maybe a bracelet, men have more jewelry, sometimes more than women.  The need for a good jewelry box has become essential.

Men love chests.  It must date back to their boyhood when they dreamed of being a pirate.  Just like men's jewelry has a masculine appeal and so does the men's jewelry chest.  The Rowena Jewelry Box has a cherry finish with burlwood and maquetry accents.  There are eight necklace hooks with a shirred catch pocket inside.  The chest is perfect for men, with a large compartment to put watches and ring rolls as well.  There is a separate draw with a gold tone drawer pull, for cuff links and other trinkets.  The chest is hand lined in sand sueded fabric with compass hinges for superior gliding.  A real men's chest, there is no mistaking this for a woman's jewelry box.  The 11 ¼" x 8"x4 ¾ " box sits well on any dresser, bureau or nightstand.

The appeal of the jewelry box has always been the mystique.  It carries a certain element of mystery, where jewelry boxes have been known to hold secrets.  With secret compartments and locks and keys, it can hold love notes, a cork from a special occasion or a dried up petal of a flower.  Keepsakes and memories can be kept in the box and every time it is opened those memories come flooding in.  There are those who keep a wallet sized picture of a deceased love one or a prayer card.  The possibilities are endless.

Men can keep their jewels safe and free of dust and dirt with a great jewelry box of their own.  As men move towards being more fashion conscious and developing a love of accessories, jewelry boxes are becoming more popular.  They make a great gift for any guy who wants to look great.
