They certainly make me angry.

I think cell phones are great but sometimes it is just too much. Recently, I was by someone's bedside as they were dying. 30 seconds after his death, someone's phone rang. (They were also in the room). It seems you can't get away from a ringing phone....ever

A Ringing cell phone during performances makes entertainers go ballistic and I don't blame them one bit. Here is an example (from bittenandbound.com):

Hugh Jackman broke character during a performance of the Broadway play " A Steady Rain" to chastise an audience member who's cell phone began ringing in the middle of a scene with Daniel Craig.

Another audience member captured the tirade on video . "You want to get that?" Jackman asks when the phone rings. "Come on, just turn it off," he demands as the ringing goes on while he paces the stage of the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, waiting for it to stop.

There is even a web site for ranting about cell phones: http://cell-phone-rant.geeksugar.com/

I have seen it all. I was at a restaurant one day and a lady had her cell phone on speaker for all to hear. Did it ever occur to her that we didn't really want to hear her conversation on speaker?

How about church and funerals? Should we really have to address this?

I have seen families or couples out to dinner and they are each speaking to someone else on their cell phone. What is the point?

I know cell phones have their good points, emergencies, and etc. but what is the love affair with cell phones? People seem to be mesmerized to the point that they no longer have good manners or are even halfway attentive to what is going on in the real world.

Am I alone in this or should I just accept this new age infatuation with cell phones as normal?
