With a whole host of affiliate products coming off the assembly line from every self-proclaimed professional percussionist on the internet, I think it's time to start really looking what we buy before we buy it. Unfortunately for most, however, there's no possible to try any of these products before purchasing them, and all you have to work with is some slick sale's pitch from someone you've never actually spoken to. First off, I won't claim to be an expert, as I have no degrees in percussion, nor have I ever created an online affiliate program for beginner drum lessons. However, I have been a percussionist for about 10 years now, and have on numerous occasions been asked to instruct both kids and young adults in the art of percussion. Although these experiences don't make me an expert by any means, I can honestly say at this point I know what it takes to be an effective percussion instructor.

Having said that, there is a distinct difference between being face to face with someone and teaching them to drum and taking online courses on how to drum. The online market for beginner drum lessons is, for the most part, a one-way system of communication. Although you may be able to see and listen to someone else explain the course, you have no real way of communicating back with this person and asking how they did what they did. In this respect, online drum lessons must be above and beyond what you can get at your local music shop as far as content, explanation, and effectiveness.

To bridge the information gap between the customer and the affiliate suppliers out there, I'm attempting to interpret and explain many of the most popular beginner drum lessons online today so that you can know what to expect before spending anything. All I ask of you, as someone who reads my articles, is to give your input on which programs you are thinking of trying out so that I can then give you back a review of that product. More articles coming soon!
