In the past years we have heard more about the paranormal then ever before. People investigating and collecting information, using different technology to capture what ever they could to prove various haunting. You must admit, that there truly has been more proof put out to the public then before. It seems as if people, are more willing to speak out about their personal experiences then before, not to say that haunting didn't occur years ago. No one was willing to talk about things that were happing in fear they would be look at in a strange way.
The definition for paranormal--- is beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation.
Charles Fort born on August 6-1874 was a writer and researcher. Fort wrote about alien abductions, paranormal and unexplained noises or explosions. It was hard for many to understand his writing. He was said, to be ahead of his time. His notes 60,000 of them were donated to the library and many of his books are still available for reading. He died on May 3-1932 at age 57.
I was surprised to find that 32%of Americans believe in ghost. I also found that there are different types of haunting:
Intelligent haunting is where an entity communicates with humans and is able to move things and make noises.
Residual haunting is when something continues over and over again like a video tape. This usually happens after a tragic event.
Fairies and elves people believe that fairies are related to UFO's they often abduct people, but will return them to the same place.
Elves such as the leprechauns are believed to be from the same family. They are general small and combined beauty and treachery. Leprechauns are just one of the numerous numbers of elves, to many to mention in this article. You may want to look up elves and read more about the different types.
Well what do you think? Would this be something you would need to experience, before you would believe it?

An excellent article Carolee. I too, am amazed at the number of people who believe in such, some only minor things such as the Wigi Board, and others to the point that their lives are obsessed with thing like ghosts, demons, etc.
joel,it's;"ouija"('yes',in French and 'yes',in German,no hooked on phonics, here) and such activity on that board opens you up to the gangster fringe element of the spirit world. It's exactly like opening your front door for anyone, down south,to walk right in;you'd better believe that most 'folks' who did walk into your house, wouldn't be as wholesome as you'd wish them to be."Obsessed",is correct Perhaps your cynicism protects you as if one pays attention to 'IT","IT" pays attention to you.Skepticism is healthy;cynicism isn't:Paul
I agree there are many enteties that we cannot see but do exist. I also feel there are great insights into the world of the paranormal in an old book.... it speaks much about "powers and principalities and rulers of wickedness in high places". I feel that is hitting the nail on the head and some of man's attempts at explaining have missed the mark. What do you think? Marijo (Mary Jo is how the name is pronounced - I had a creative dad)
I guess I still am a bit of a skeptic. That is just part of my nature. But there has to be something to all this. I personally have never experienced it.
The supernatural in general, which includes religious spirituality, non-religious spirituality, occultism and any phenomena outside the scope of empirical observation must be recognized as a personal reality. It is a fact that people do see and experience phenomena that you or I would not see, and therefore it is real to that individual, although people will vehemently, even aggressively defend their convictions as "true," while marginalizing others' religious or supernatural experience.
You speak of occultism that referrs to the devil. More of an organized type belief. I say if you believe in God you will have to believe in the devil. Based on the fact of good and evil. I not sure why people would pick evil but some do. I have heard of people being possessed by the devil and not willingly. This is a whole other subject.
"You speak of occultism that referrs to the devil."
I spoke of no such thing. The devil is your culturocentric misinterpretation, not mine. My subject was the supernatural, which includes occultism and all the other categories that belong to what you have referred to as "paranormal."
"Occult the world of magic and supernatural beliefs and practices. occultism relating to the occultist." I do see a difference. But thanks for your opinion.
I think a bunch of this is because of pizza eaten late at night or something with a normal explanation. But when the Bible is speaking of the demonic realm I believe that is quite real - I also think many other phenomena (aliens, ghosts etc) could be demonic manifestations. Thanks for opening up this subject and giving up room to dialogue! Marijo
I think these kinds of superstitions and fears are only found in the USA. Of course the imagery of elves, faeries and the like have been borrowed form Celtic folklore. But we here in the Celtic countries (I write from Cymru) know the difference between a good story and a brick wall.
Interesting article, Carolee. I do believe in the paranormal, but not that entities are ghosts or dead people or in hauntings as most do. Welcome to SearchWarp.
I have been in Searchwarp for a while I just haven't been to active since last year at Christmas. I'm not able to write articles as quickly as some just me. I'm glade you liked the article and it was done to give you something to think about.
I think it is an interesting subject. I to am more of a skeptic. It maybe unless you have had some experience with some of this you just can't understand it or believe it. Anyway food for thought.
Interesting stuff, Carolee. I am still not sure what I think of these things, being cynical by nature, but I have to admit that I have had experiences that I cannot reconcile with science. So there you go!
I've learned something new, thanks to your interesting article. Personally, I am a skeptic. And, quite frankly, I'm glad spirits don't bother with me. Wouldn't even begin to know what to do or how to act if they did. I really enjoyed your article though and loved the information. Thanks for writing it!
I believe in all of these as I have experienced the paranormal and it wasn't a pleasant experience. It's difficult for any one to believe things like this unless they've actually experienced it for themselves. I try to explain it this way to them. Do you believe in a higher power? Do you believe in the spirit moving on after you die? If so, you can't see or feel either of those, so why wouldn't the paranormal be real also. You may never see it, although I did, but I know it's there. Believing in something, if you can feel or see it or not, is belief and we all have some kind of belief. Even if you are athiest, it's still a belief, that has no physical substance. So, even if you don't believe, please don't condemn those of us that do. I honestly hope you NEVER have to experience this, just to be a believer. Thanks!
