Being on the receiving end of a surprise party is an amazing feeling. If you'd like to give that feeling to someone that you love or care about, you're going to have to do a lot of planning. With the following tips, you can be sure to create a memorable and fun surprise party for the guest of honor.

Start out by picking your date. If the surprise party is for someone's birthday, make sure to schedule the party for a few days before or a few days after their actual birthday. This way they won't suspect a thing. Before you actually schedule the party, sneakily find out of the person of honor will be available for that day.

In your invitations, give the guests clear instructions on where the party will be held and when they need to arrive. Schedule the guests to be there at least 30 minutes before the guest of honor. Make sure that everyone knows that it is a surprise party so they don't accidently ruin the surprise. If you live with the guest of honor, you'll want to appoint a friend out of the house as the RSVP taker.

In addition to needing someone else to handle RSVPs, planning a surprise party with someone you live with can have additional challenges. You should decide whether the party will be held at your home or at someone else's. Holding the party elsewhere can solve a lot of problems of decorating and receiving guests. But if you are committed to having the party at your house, arrange for someone to take the guest of honor out of the house for a while so you can get ready.

Make sure to have the guests park far away from the location of the party so the surprise won't be spoiled. Also let people know that if they are going to be late they should wait until 15 minutes after the time when the guest of honor is supposed to arrive so they won't be getting there at the same time.

You can also handle the surprise by convincing the guest of honor that you are going to someone else's party at a friend's house. This way you don't have to worry about having the other guests hide their cars.

Another option is to have a reverse surprise party. Don't tell the guest of honor that guests will be arriving and have them all "stop by" for dinner. As the guests arrive one by one, continue on with the meal by adding another place setting and playing host. Once everyone is there, you can tell the guest of honor "Surprise!" together.

Finally, be sure to have a lot of streamers and confetti on hand. Be sure that everyone has something to toss in the air as the guest of honor arrives so he or she will be really surprised.

By using these tips, you can be sure to have an exciting (and surprising) surprise party.
