You read poems that are bright and sunny, but when do you read a poem that is telling the honest truth?
The poems I write are true, and I try to make people relate to them.
I will not sugar coat what life is really about, what the dark part of life can be.
It is not all rainbows and bunnies can you not see?
Are you blind to all the bad? Deaf to the sad?
When you wake of the mornings do you feel happy and cheerful? Do you hear birds singing?
If so then in your mind, you are dreaming of a fairy tale life, not the reality of it.
Soliders' dieing in Iraq, children starving, and husbands beating their wife, that is in the real life, you may block it out, but it is there, it is real honest truth.
Dark clouds fill the sky, another lie is told, another person is cold, why is the world this way? Can someone pray? Do turn the T.V. off when you see the truth? Do you let tears run when someone else is crying? Does your heart break when someone else's heart is in pieces?
Do you want to die when you see a loved one laying six foot under?
I am not being mean, these are the poets questions, they are real and honest, and it seems like most people want to cover them up with smiles, hugs, and kisses.
If the world were to end today would you regret the life you lead? Did you give all the love you could to your children and family? Did you spend less time at work and more playing pass with your son and daughter?
Did you stop and smell a flower? Did you help someone on the street?
