Here come the holidays, and with them, the typical 10-pound weight gain most of us meekly swallow as inevitable. But it doesn't have to be that way. There are 7 tips in a new free DVD, Weighing In on the Holidays: Preventing that Typical 10-Pound Gain!
The key is planning ahead, practicing, and staying positive. My seven tips tell weight-watchers to consider "my needs". It is an acronym that stands for:
1. Move more
2. You do not give or keep food gifts
3. No BLTs: bites, licks, taste
4. Eat five cups vegetables and fruit most days of the week
5. Eat before going out
6. Drink more water, less high calorie treats
7. Sleep more
M.Y. N.E.E.D.S. are the best way to make it through October to January without having to lose 10 pounds more than you already wanted to lose. And with any tip, tool or technique, I have to also encourage you on how to put it into practice.
How? We just said it: practice! This is a very powerful word. Practice. I heard a quote recently that most people have the will to win, but few have the will to prepare for it.
Even God talks about practicing our faith to build its strength. In Matthew 5:19 Jesus says, "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
So, this holiday season--beginning now!--let's practice a new thing and teach our families to do better, too. Practicing one or two key strategies is the formula for your new year--for your new-you success story.
So, how do you practice? Think of your P.A.S.T. in a new way:
P = Pick a tip: Just pick one idea until you build your record of success
A = Answer this question: What makes doing this tip worth it to me?
S = Set up a reminder: Put a cue in place that alerts you to do the tip
T = Treat yourself: After 4-5 days, reward yourself
End this year pointed in the direction you want to be next year. Make a small change now. Pick a tip. Put it into practice and welcome a new year and a new you.

I was a yo-yo dieter. (Like you?) I lost, regained, lost and regained the same 20 or 60 pounds over and over again on countless diet and fitness programs. Now I've kept off 90 pounds for more than seven years, with an intentional weight maintenance program I'd like to share with you through the Virtual Weight Loss Center.
