Often we don't think how easy it is to create our own costumes. It doesn't take that much time and can be fun. There a many web sites that can help you to achieve this. A little creativity and time and you are on your way.

To start with use the second hand stores. You can find all kinds of clothing at a very low price. Just pick out what you would like to be a clown, ghost, bomb or something else.

Cardboard boxes are often helpful in designing a costume. Just paint the box a color adds a face or other effects and you can be a robot or wash machine.

Using sweat pants or tights can be helpful in creating various things like a spider, skunk and bunny.

If you need to add make-up to your costume you can use soft shorting, cornstarch and food coloring this will do the trick.

A little history about Halloween

The origins come from ancient Celtics. A festival would be celebrated at this time called Samhain which was derived from Old Irish. It means, summers end or "lighter half of the year and the beginning of the darker half also regarded as The Celtics New Year".

The ancient Celtics believed that the border between this world became thin allowing both (harmful and helpful spirits) to come threw. In order to ward off the bad spirits the young men dressed in white covering and wore masks, veils and blackened faces. On Halloween, the ancient Celtics would place skeletons on their window sills to represent the departed.

Halloween didn't appear in The United States till around 1934.

I placed this in my article because of the top comment.  Maybe others will be interested in this also.
Halloween spelled Hallowe'en is shortened from All Hallows'even-e'en is shorting of even which is the shorting for evening.  This is derived from Old English.  Is is now know as "Eve of All Saints Day" which is Nov.1.  Around 800Ad the Christian church declared Nov.1st All Saints Day part of the Roman Festival.  Halloween really doesn't have a meaning it is a contraction of All Hallows Eve or All Saints Day.

A very interesting summary of Hallow'een. Many christians avoid halloween due to the imitation of demons etc, but it has been santized in the US by the inclusion of all sorts of dressing up.
