You probably think you're not allergic to anything because you don't see any immediate signs of it after ingesting something you don't usually eat. Does it mean that you're truly free of allergies? Your may be experiencing some chronic health problems but you're unsure if it's food related so you just dub it your mystery illness. It's a hit-miss for you sometimes because you never could single out any food as a cause but just wake up one day feeling ill. Maybe you just thought that feeling tired and being overweight is just a result of an unhealthy lifestyle..

Do you fall into the group of people who do have allergies?

The clear symptoms of food allergies are skin problems, yeast infections, weight gain that you can hardly lose and irritable bowel. The reason why these happen is because you are unable to digest certain types of food properly. The symptoms could be mild and annoying or sometimes life threatening.

You can be sensitive to gluten, dairy products, fructose from fruits, or yeast. This sensitivity is typically called food intolerance and is said to be different from food allergy. The difference is that food allergies can be treated. The reason why we are allergic to food is that our body has not built a natural tolerance for the substance. People are usually allergic to seafood and other types of food that are unusual in their diets. The best way to remedy one's self of allergies is not to avoid the food altogether but to help the body build resistance. Do see a doctor about this as different people have varying degrees of allergic reactions and there are some that could be life threatening.

A good example of a treatment would be the fish oil therapy for people who are allergic to seafood. People who suddenly experience some swelling and itching after eating fish or shellfish are not in any danger to keep consuming this type of food. The substance just has to be gradually introduced to their systems so they can build a natural tolerance. That also means that staying away from the food would not help them any.

As for food intolerance, it is an entirely different matter. The easiest way to determine if one is intolerant of a certain type of food is to eliminate possible causes and assess the results. The food that would bring back the symptoms is definitely the culprit.
