The sand used to fill up bunker areas can vary from course to course. Some locations use very soft, fine sand. Other bunkers have tight, firm sand. Some courses may even have less sand in their bunkers than others. All of these conditions can add up to trouble for a lot of golfers, and will require a different golf swing if your ball lands in a bunker.

If you enjoy playing by the rules, you should know that the regulations dictate that you are not allowed to test the sand's texture before playing a bunker shot. However, you can at least take the time to be conscious if the sand appears to be wet and hard, or soft and light, and make a mental note as to how you might want to adjust your golf swing.

Bunker sand that is on the hard side will require that you slow down your swing speed a bit. This means that you will not take the club back as far as you normally would. The ball will pop out faster because there is no cushion of soft sand between the club head and your ball.

Soft sand will require more club speed. Because the sand is light and fluffy, there will be a lot of it coming between the ball and your club head. Soft sand actually slows down the golf swing as it follows through.

So as you cab see there are a number of things to consider when you get yourself into the sand. Our web site will review a number of products that are guaranteed to help you whether you're in or out of the bunker by suggesting a number of different quality ebooks or software programs that will help you improve everything about your golf swing. And if you don't improve your swing, your game will definitely not get better and might even get worse as you get more and more frustrated.

So as you can see, different bunker conditions will require a different golf swing if you want to be as successful as you can at the game known as golf. Golfswing software will help you to analyze any problems that you might have, whether it's in relation to your golf swing plane or speed, or any other aspect of the swing.

One tip for bunkers around the green I have always found is that using a 7 iron with a delicate touch almost guarantees you get out of the bunker and onto the green every time.

In a sense what ever works for you, works. There are certain fundamentals which must be adhered to, but after that you're on your own. Some pro golfers don't have the classic swing, but it works.

Is there a specific reason that the rules dictate that you are not allowed to test the sand's texture before playing a bunker shot?Paul Schroeder

Hi! If you go check out the PGA Rules, Rule 13 will talk about this very thing. It's pretty clear about doing nothing that will improve the lie of your ball which can very easily happen if you touch the sand behind the golf ball.

Maybe teaching styles didn't work for you, maybe you weren't sufficiently motivated. My wife golfs to spend more time with me, it is the time and not the golf for her. Why don't you send me a private message if you're still interested in the game and I'll put you in touch with a couple of resources.

Playing sand shots are probably the one shot that most amateurs have problems with. It is not as hard as we make it out to be. Good advice.
