There is no guarantee that the common masses can get the purest form of water from the local government reservoirs.

Households have to take additional measures to ensure that they get the safest water possible, most notably getting a water filtration unit.

There are umpteen numbers of such units available in the market. But how do you separate the what from the chaff. Read on.

Ways to filter tap water

We have got standalone branded water filters from reputed manufacturers to purify tap water. In general, we have got the rain water harvesting system, reverse osmosis, ultra violet radiation system and many more. Let's consider few ways to filter tap water.

Charcoal filters

This type of water filter is made by using coconut husk. This charcoal medium carbon systems are easy to install and relatively inexpensive.

As water flows through this medium, the impurities and deadly contaminants like Cryptosporidium and Guardia are removed easily. An average charcoal filter will last for 6-9 months.

Few charcoal filters come with activated nano-silver. This provides extra antibacterial protection and kills around 650 types of organisms. This type of charcoal filter retains the minerals in the water which are essential for healthy living.

Ceramic Water Filters

Ceramic water filters come in the form of cartridge and are fitted with bench top water filter. The ceramic filter is made up of tiny silicon shells known as one celled algae called diatoms.

Some type of ceramic filters comes with nano-silver that is being impregnated into a porous ceramic outer shell.

This outer shell then helps to trap bacteria to a level as low as 0.22 of a micron in particle size. These types of water filters are easily brushed on its outer surface to increase the flow of water.

What To Choose

Actually, there are many more water filtration technologies available - too numerous to mention here.

But let us assume that you are now at a point that you don't want your family to be consuming the hazardous contaminants that exist in your water supply.

Also lets assume that you recognize that a home water filtration system is only way to give you an added layer of protection against those contaminants. Then - what filtration device is suitable for you?

To answer this question adequately - you first need to get your household water tested. Then when you find out what contaminants are in it, you get a filter that is capable of removing them.

However, be aware that there are numerous suppliers of water filtration devices, many which will bend the truth as to what their filter can do.

Therefore, before you spend a penny on a purifier, find out if it is certified. Certification gives you the assurance that not are you buying a quality product but that the product is capable of removing the drinking water contaminants you want.

--------

We researched the top filters in the market and found a multi-stage water filter that removes the highest amount of contaminants and improves your drinking water's taste. More details: http://www.best-water-filter-guide.com
