Ladies and Gentlemen, I have had enough.
The images and sounds emanating from Washington D.C. on November 5, 2009 from the steps of the Capitol Building, were just sickening.
What in the world were the Republicans thinking when a sign was used the with words "National Socialist Health Care, Dachau, Poland - 1945" superimposed over a picture of a mound of corpses of people who were killed in that concentration camp? What in the hell do they think they are doing? Equating healthcare reform in 2009 with the Holocaust? Simply mind numbing, there is no excuse for this. Two of the many speakers at the "press conference"? Rep.Michelle( Out of touch with reality)Bachmann of Minnesota and Rep.John (I love the healthcare industry) Boehner of Ohio.
It is time for any and all legislators to stop prostituting themselves for the healthcare industry. Elected members of Congress are supposed to carry out the will of the people that they represent, not their personal agendas. If Bachmann or Boehner had something intelligent to say, they should have denounced the "Socialist Health Care" sign. They did not, so they are willing accomplices in this travesty. Bachmann thinks "A revolution every now and then is a good thing"? Had this been said during the administration of G.W. Bush, that person would have been locked away under the pretense of "national security." By the way, when Boehner can tell the difference between the Constitution and the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence, he should issue a press release proclaiming his knowledge of American history.
To the idiots that attend rallies, tea bag parties or "press conferences" screaming " I want government out of my healthcare", do us a favor: get rid of your Medicare or don't accept it when your turn comes to utilize it.
It is one thing to protest policy. It is another to rally with that disgusting Dachau sign and signs with racist depictions of President Obama. This is the indication of the subtle statements that are being made by some of our fellow citizens - the Republicans do not control the White House, and there are those that have a problem with a African American Commander in Chief. There, I said it! The Republicans are the party of non inclusion of non white peoples (Black, Latino and Asian, to name a few) and they don't like different looking people making national policy.
Did I hear someone say Michael Steele? The man who doesn't like the healthcare proposals put forth by Democrats, but did not know what healthcare plan he belonged to? Just the man to lead the Republican Party!
Intelligent discourse has gone out of the window. We have returned to the good old days of scare tactics and the politics of fear.
Were there instances where Democratic congressmen went on television to invite people to join mass protests against the Iraq War, holding signs of G.W. Bush with a "Hitler" mustache drawn on them? I think not. Obama - Hitler and healthcare reform - Holocaust comparisons are disgusting, revolting - and racist. To the Republicans and any other lawmaker employing these repulsive tactics, do everyone a favor, resign and become what you truly are - healthcare lobbyists.
To the people who willingly go along with these repulsive tactics and actively participate in these protests - go to your nearest department store and buy a clue - there is no one in government that wants to kill your grandparents and the "socialist" government has been helping the elderly (yes, your grandparents) by providing Medicare for decades.
America needs healthcare reform, and we need it now! End the lunacy, and let us have all parties with legitimate concerns come to the table and hammer this out. All Americans must benefit from this effort, not the politicians and the healthcare companies who are obviously in bed with one another. Enough said.
Until next time (you know there will be).
