Premiership League results - What has happened to the Reds (Liverpool football team?) Once a football team to be feared on the pitch and yet today a team to be laughed at, and whose fault is that. Ouch that hurt having to say that but it's true.
There was a time when I never knew one end of the football pitch from the other, but when you have two sons, one that supports Liverpool (LFC) and the other an avid fan of Manchester United then some choices in life are made for you. They say if you can't beat em join em, so I did and never looked back. However I'm not sure was it the right thing for a mom like me to take as much interest in the sport as I have. Football is a fast going action packed sport that's lively and exciting, but is it good for my heart to beat at a pace faster than the players can run when cheering them on. Or could my heart be missing a beat, and my skin cover over in goose bumps when players like midfielder Steven Gerrad takes a shot at goal from half way up the pitch, or is it Fernando Torres that is the cause of me to dribble when he dribbles with the ball.
What woman in her right mind would tell her sons to turn the television off when you have Captain of Liverpool football team Steven Gerrad and striker Fernando Torres entertain you with their football skills in a manner that has your hair stand on end. Boy oh boy do I have a lot to thank my lads for. I have to laugh sometimes when watching their faces when I can't control my excitement on seeing the players. They would turn and say Mom you should only cheer when they get a goal' sorry lads this mom doesn't. I have to admit it was difficult getting my head around different rulings of the sport, and which still to this day cannot for the life of me get my head around the off side rule. Who cares as long as it's not Gerrad or Torres who is off side?
Premiership League results
What could be the reason why Liverpool football team just keeps on going down in the premiership League? Why are some of the world's best football players not scoring the goals to get the much needed premiership points? Could it be they haven't been chosen to be part of the squad, at the time of a vital football match? Are we looking towards Rafa Benitez for the answers?
Liverpool is one of the world's best football teams with professional football players and yet each week we see a decline on the premiership board. Sadly we have just seen Liverpool knocked out of the Carling cup, and hanging on by the skin of their teeth to stay in the Champions League. Is the reason for their failure to score because Steven Gerrad and Torres are recovering from groin injuries or whatever? I have to give it to the team that were able bodied and went out on that pitch and did their best and a couple to name who pulled out their plums were Yossi Benayoun, Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and others like Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger, "but" what was Lucas doing on the pitch. I haven't got a clue what my son and others mean by this but they get so riled when Rafa Benitez puts out the wrong squad (Lucas)
Rafa Benitez in his time at Anfield has had to overcome and fix many problems, and deal with a multitude of complications while managing Liverpool, but lately people are questioning his ability getting his team Liverpool back up the score board of the Premiership league. A prime example of making the wrong or right decision is one involving Fernando Torres. The Spanish striker has been ordered to rest by doctors that say he needs to rest over the next few weeks, but can Benitez afford to let him rest, or better still can Rafa Benitez afford not to. Fernando Torres claimed he will play football against doctor's orders for the sake of the team (how gallant.) Should Rafa let him? Well he has so let us pray Torres hasn't worsened his condition.
As long as Gerrad and Fernando sit on the bench healing their wounds the more games Liverpool could lose. But if both players go back on the pitch before they are completely cured then Liverpool may "never" win another match.
Benitez has only himself to blame for the dilemma he's in because the coming weeks are crucial and could well outline Liverpool's season in terms of title push, or possible progress in the Champions League. Of course Rafa can keep Torres free for particular one off games, is this good enough with the situation being serious for Liverpool at this minute. Liverpool needs goals, and what do goals give "points'"
Realistically Torres is the only striker at the Liverpool club able to get the points needed to put Liverpool back in their rightful position, and that being top of the premiership? Can it be done, you must never say never? But if unfortunate in their fight to get back up the board then maybe next year might be their lucky year, when the owners of Liverpool football team give Rafa Benitez the boot. If this happens then we are coming for you Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and all you others who believe you're a threat to Liverpool
Oh hell I have just remembered Liverpool has to go up against Birmingham football team on Monday and I also hear that Gerrad and Torres might be taking up their positions on the pitch. Rafa you were already in a dilemma over what to do with Torres but if Gerrad's groin hasn't had time to heal then Steven Gerrad not only may never kick a ball again but never have kids. Rafa you make the decisions so you need to make the right one. Do you play Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrad increasing the risk of their injuries worsening, or do you do what you normally do which is worse than rigging a football match and that is to put Lucas on the pitch
The ball is in your court and if you want to hold on to yours then avoid upsetting the scousers who would love to kick you in them. I suggest you get your act together, or should I say the Liverpool team.
Premiership League Table and results
Chelsea (27 points)
Man United (25 points)
Arsenal (22 points)
Tottenham (22 points)
Aston Villa (22 points)
Man City (20 points)
LIVERPOOL (18 points)
Only nine points in the difference boys, and like I said earlier anything is possible.
Had Christiano Ronaldo before being sold by Manchester United to Real Madrid for a record breaking 80 million pounds had still been playing in the Premier League over the 2009/10 season; it's probably likely he would have earned recognition for Premier League Golden Boot. Probably was used because we will never know now that he has gone. Did he go because he wanted too, or was he feared that Liverpool's Spanish hit-man Fernando Torres was hot on his trail. I felt the need to get that in because I love Torres. And also why I dislike Ronaldo was when I was in Portugal on holiday and seen the sneaky Portuguese winger set up fellow team mate Wayne Rooney getting him sent off in the world cup. "And" when he blatantly winked while on camera for doing so had me see the guy in a different light, nonetheless I always give honor where honor is due and admit he is a great player, but he will still never be as good Steven Gerrad or Fernando Torres, in my eye anyway
Good luck Liverpool and we are all routing for you to get those much needed premiership points, and pass the next stage of the Champions League with flying colors. If for any reason this is not achieved then remember what your Liverpool fans sing "You'll Never Walk Alone."
