The new trend in homes is to make the kitchen a focal point of the house. The more time people spend in the kitchens, the more comfortable they want these rooms to be. One easy way to make a dated kitchen more cozy is to give it a country make-over. Decorating your kitchen with a rooster theme can be especially fun, since there are so many options currently available.

Before you rush to the store to begin buying items for your kitchen’s rooster theme, you need to decide on a color scheme. Since this decorating theme began with the French country craze, many rooster accessories are blue and yellow. However, there are still plenty of choices with green, red, and brown colors, as well. Once you decide on a color scheme, give your walls a fresh coat of paint using your main color. When you pick out your rooster theme decorative pieces, you will want to make sure they pull the other colors from your color scheme into the room.

If your cabinet fronts are looking a bit shabby, you can knock out the inside panels of the cabinet doors and replace them with chicken wire. Just cut chicken wire a bit bigger than the inside of each door and bend the cut edges under so that you won’t cut yourself. Then, staple the wire securely to the inside of each door.

Now, you will need to decide how to add the rooster theme decorating scheme to your kitchen. If your kitchen cabinets do not reach the ceiling, you have one ideal place to display plates, statuary, and bowls with rooster themes. If you do not have display space, you will need to make some space. Do you have space between your upper cabinets and the counter tops? Use inexpensive peg racks from your local craft store to line the space between the upper cabinets and the counter top on one wall and a narrow shelf on another wall to make the most of that space. You will be able to display rooster plates, wooden rooster cutouts, and rooster theme hot pads on the peg racks. On the shelf, you can display figurines, coffee cups, candles, and other items that have a rooster theme.

Do you have a bare wall in your kitchen? A country shelf with a peg rack is a great way for you to add a country element to the room. On top of the shelf, you can put a rooster theme shelf runner. On top of the runner, you can add a rooster theme pitcher and several rooster figurines. If you can find some flat backed baskets, you can hang them from the pegs on the shelf and you will have a great place to store outgoing mail, sunglasses, and all those other little things that are so easy to misplace.

While you are buying rooster theme accessories for your kitchen, don’t forget the floor. Rooster rugs are available in many colors and styles. Pick a rug that has all of the colors in your color scheme in it. This will help the colors blend better.

Finally, don’t forget rooster shaped wrought iron hooks and plate racks. Also, you can add an artistic touch to your kitchen with a framed rooster print or two. You can even install a rooster theme mosaic as a back splash.

Once you are done decorating the room with a rooster theme, make sure you take the time to sit and enjoy your cozy country kitchen.
