"Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a

Success."

Dr. Joyce Brothers

Abstract

This paper is full of learned wisdom from this class, and I hope to make all aspects taught a permanent part of my life. There are also many wise sayings I found which are included to help laugh about, learn from, and to remember why I am concerned for my health.

One of the most important things I learned from taking this course is to get fit and stay fit we must have our own personal fitness and nutritional plan. This plan must become a state of mind, something we live and learn by everyday. What I mean by this, to take everyday and plan out the right paths for our food intake and fitness plans to keep ourselves fit. We must think about what we eat before we put into our mouths, because we are what we eat. My busy days lately have consisted of running to and fro, and not thinking about the foods I am consuming each day. I ate what ever appeared to be appetizing on the menu, but did not think about what I was eating till starting this class and putting my food intake through the food analyzer. Boy, did this really make me start to think deeper in the concepts of food!

“Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard at it."

Secondly, I have discovered true success cannot be purchased in a bottle of diet pills, but to truly be successful in our diets we must learn to balance our food intake and fitness level. Anything we accomplish in life we must be willing to work hard to make it happen. Hard work is a necessary attribute to learn and live by. Working hard at what we want to achieve is a necessary step for success and can not be skipped through the use of magical pills, potions, and fad dieting. I think back in my own personal life when I was trying the herb Ephedra, and had how I had some very ill effects from the drug. I only thought about how much weight I was losing, and not until this class clearly understood the danger I was putting myself in. This course has made me think about my own personal safety and health. Too actually lose and maintain my bodies weight it will take determination on my part by implementing a life changing fitness and eating plan.

I think the most important thing I discovered by using the Mypyrimid.com site is the information discovered made me think deeper about the energy levels or total calories for the day consumed. The days I did the journal my calorie intake was quite low, but my intake of sodium and fats were extremely high. Wow!! Could this be the reason I am overweight? This tells me I could eat more of the right foods, and be more fulfilled. I must learn to eat the right kind of foods to balance my personal fitness and nutritional plan. Food selection is a big part in the success in my personal diet and fitness plan. I am going to start eating more towards the lines of the food pyramid to balance my food intakes.

“Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow ye diet."

William Gilmore Beymer

My Personal Fitness and Nutritional Goals

I am presently overweight. I hope to utilize the things learned in this class to achieve my own personal and fitness goals. The most important to me is to make my changes a lifelong practice. I have personally experienced the yo yo effect in my life so much in my life that it does get very discouraging, so hopefully this time I will reduce my weight and keep it off. My plan to reduce my weight is to start eating the right types of food. I am going to follow the food pyramid to help develop balance in my eating habits. By doing the analysis it has made me think before I eat something. I am going to eat more vegetables and grains to help balance my diet, and less fried foods to reduce my fat levels consumed.

“Never, never, never quit."
Winston Churchill

I am going to start walking again as a start to my fitness goal and plan. When I lost all my weight the last time I accomplished this basically through walking. Hopefully I will stick to this and not quit.

“If you wish to grow thinner, diminish your dinner."
Henry Sambrooke Leigh

The Class Which Made Me Think

I know I will look back on this class as one of my most life changing experiences if I learn to practice the precepts and concepts, which were taught.

Permanent achievement of weight loss is a state of mind, and balance will be the key to achieving my goals set before me. I have always heard, “To much of good thing can become unhealthy." This statement is so true when it comes to fitness and nutrision.

“We never repent of having eaten too little."

Thomas Jefferson

I know my personal fitness and dietary plan will affect my boys in a immense way. I have always heard children learn things firsthand from their parents. Hopefully, my example to my sons will be very positive. I have also heard children walk in the footsteps of their parents, and hopefully they will never have to worry about being overweight by following my healthier path.

I think about one of the most important reasons for putting my plan in place I will live longer and healthier. Another grand reason I will be around long enough be a granddad, and will not have to worry about dieing from heart disease or a stroke.

To me it was so eye opening and to see how much diseases are related to what I am actually putting into my body everyday. I know if I learn to practice balance in my life all the things mentioned above I will be able to accomplish. Hopefully, I will learn to crawl before I learn to walk. The baby steps and the growing pains can be the hardest things to deal with at times. Realizing these things I want to change about myself cannot be done overnight, and with patience I will do what I set out to do for my children, and for my children’s children.
