Golf fitness is a term that is now even on the television. There is a segment that is completely dedicated to the topic. But a term equally important is core training when it comes to improving golf swing power.

With the needs of golfers turning to the physical side of game improvement, it’s no surprise golfers of all ages and abilities are seeking out qualified and credible golf fitness training experts to improve their golf swing power and consistency.

There are too many components of a golf fitness program for me to cover them all in this one article, but core training should be at the top of the list for any golfer wanting to improve golf swing power, distance and efficiency.

Let’s cover what the core area of the body is. It is the middle section of your body. You can even include the upper legs in that section as well, but for the most part it is the abdominals, lower back and even the glutes. This is the main power source in your golf swing.

How many times have you made an easy swing at the ball, and the ball rocketed off your clubface and flew farther than normal? This is due to proper golf swing sequence and utilizing your core throughout your golf swing.

Now let me ask you the opposite. How many times have you swung really hard and the ball went nowhere? This is the common occurrence for most amateur golfers. And swinging harder means less control and more mishits that fly way off course causing a ballooning of your golf score.

A golf fitness program incorporating core training from a rotational standpoint will warrant the best results. The golf swing is a turn (rotation) back and a turn (rotation) through, so it only makes sense to train your body in the same manner.

The two elements would be rotational strength and rotational flexibility, as they both play a key role in generating a higher level of clubhead speed and ultimately distance. Improving your body’s ability to make a full (and tension-free) backswing, resulting in maximum torque in your core and uncoiling this stored torque with a stronger core will give you amazing results.

Golf fitness core training coupled with improved golf swing mechanics is an unstoppable combination in your total golf improvement approach. Having this focused and specific golf training program will eliminate the need to pound hundreds of balls and take dozens of lessons.

Gone are the days of disappointing golf. You’ll soon be walking off the course with a total sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Keeping this picture clearly in your mind while you partake in this journey will help you stay motivated.

You’ll soon become a believer in golf fitness core training to improve your golf swing power and distance.
