What equipment do you need for Golf.

1. Of course you need golf clubs, and a bag to carry them in.

New or used, it is up to you, but I would not rush out and buy a new set of Pings today.

Garage sales or friends are always a good place to find used clubs. You can probably pick up a starter set (3-9 irons, pitching wedge, and a driver and 3 wood) for less than a $100.00. Don’t forget the putter.

2. Of course you will need golf balls. What kind of golf balls do you need?

A two or three ply ball is best. Most golfers use a 2 ply ball and probably a 90 compression will do just fine. I know those terms may be greek to you right now but, if you stick with golf you will soon learn what those and a lot more terms mean.

3. You need to dress properly for golf. You do not need to break your budget for new golf clothes, unless you are more interested in being seen than playing golf. A good rule of thumb is just be comfortable. You should wear a shirt, or blouse, that is loose enough to allow you to move through your swing without any discomfort.

Your shoes should be comfortable and it is preferred that they have soft spikes.

4. Well that about does it. Oh, don’t forget the hat, especially if you are “thinning", And sunscreen would be helpful. Most of all go with a ‘have fun attitude’, and you will.

Paul Webb-Paul is an avid golfer who manages to break eighty every now and then, but really just loves the game and reads as much as he can about it. You can visit his website at http://breakeighty.com or http://mygolfspot.com
