Wall covering is the name given to all the materials used to cover, protect, or decorate ceilings and walls. Nearly all types of materials, stone, plaster, fabrics, paper, wood, stucco, can be used to cover or clad the walls and ceiling.

The market offers endless possibilities to solve any problem that may come up while decorating. When choosing the wall coverings for the floor you have to make sure that there are no humidity problems.

The wall covering chosen for each space is determined not only by the style and ambience we wish to create but also by practical aspects such as maintenance. Paint must be recoated periodically as it gets dirty easily.

However, there are now washable paints, even water-based ones especially suitable for children’s rooms. Tiles do not stand up to wear and tear they get chipped and do not allow you to drill holes.

It is worth looking into new solutions coming on to the market, like marble work and stone tiles. Think about how a material will look next to the surroundings decoration materials while trying to imagine the sample at full size.

Special care is necessary before going ahead with installation of a wall covering because normally it is a quite costly process and difficult to change. Consider the possibility of playing flooring against carpets and rugs. The latter add warmth and comfort to a home.

Use fabrics to provide soundproofing in noisy rooms. Curtains or blinds allow you to play with light. Choose flooring according to a room’s use. Avoid paint in areas with heavy circulation. Tiles and marble are both washable and longer lasting.

When deciding on flooring and wall coverings remember just how much space they occupy and therefore how important they are. Well-matched wall coverings and floorings can be equally enhancing so it is best to select them at the same time.
