Starting your own eBay Business - Introduction We have all heard numerous success stories on persons making thousands of dollars and even more a month selling on eBay. Many of us would like to be in the position to be our own boss and control our own destiny and eBay offers that opportunity. The Catch - it requires commitment, hard work, patience and a strategy. In the next series of articles, we will walk you step by step through the process to help make you successful.

By way of introduction the following is an outline of the topics that will be covered. Each subsequent article will go in depth as to how to accomplish these components.

The Plan Starting the Business - Part I This is the strategy and most important part of starting your business. Basically the framework on which it will be built Introduction - Tell what you plan to sell, how you plan to sell it and why.

Mission Statement - A short simple one phrase statement of your business Statement of Purpose - More extensive than the Mission Statement, why are you doing what you are doing.

Unique Features - What makes your business unique from the competition.

Marketing and Business Development Objectives - Who you plan to sell to, how and why.

Expected Accomplishments - Goal setting.

Required Capital - Amount you are willing to invest and spend on your business. We will include a worksheet with the components defined.

Description of the Business - An in depth look at how your business will be structured.

History of the Business - If applicable, this could involve taking a storefront to the internet.

Founder of the Business - Your resume, what make you qualified to run this business.

Management and Operations - Who will make the decisions and allocation of responsibility.

Regulations and Licensing - What do you need to operate legally.

Description of Services - Define any services besides product you intend to include in your business.

Marketing, Market Research and Sales - Part III Getting your business noticed and targeting potential customers.

Branding - Determine how your business will be recognized. Market Research - How to determine who will buy your product and services.

Market Segment and Target Market - Who will you be targeting to sell your products to.

Competition - Check out who is selling similar products and services.

Objectives and Strategies - Define how you plan to market your products.

Unique Selling Advantage - What makes your product and services unique over the competition.

Selling Tactics - Defining how you will sell your products and services.

Business Development Focus - How you plan on increasing market share.

Pricing - Develop a structured pricing scheme.

Advertising - Different than marketing, the actual physical process of getting your business noticed.

Risks IV Don't get caught by the unknown.

Description of Risks - Define what you see as impediments to your business' success.
