Wow! You are engaged, congratulations! Now what? Well, the first suggestion that I make is stop, take a deep breath and don’t let the planning over whelm one of the happiest times in your life. You can get through the planning without too much stress if you follow a few simple steps.
Step 1: You and your finance should sit down as a couple and create a list of every single element that you would love to have in you wedding, even if you can’t afford it.
Step 2: This is the step that is probably most stressful to couples the finances. Work out how much you both can afford to give to the wedding fund, and remember, you do not want to start getting into debt at this time, so only use funds that you can afford to use. Also, don’t be too proud to accept help from anyone who is offering it, especially if it is given and not loaned.
Step 3: Create another list, on this list put down the type of wedding that you would like, such as modern, traditional, contemporary, or themed. Decide what size of a wedding you would like, such as guest and the size of the wedding party. Decide where you would like to have your ceremony, outdoors, in a church, a museum, hotel, or historical site. Decide where you would like to have you would like to have your reception, again, outdoors, in someone’s home, a hotel, and so on.
Step 4: Now go back to your first list and pick the three most important elements that you would like to have and work on incorporating them into your budget. Although, weddings today are expensive, they don’t have to be, so just stick to your budget and your plans and don’t let any vendors try to talk you into adding more to your budget.
Step 5: Take another deep breath and don’t stress yourself out, enlist friends and relatives to help where ever you need it and if it still is too much then enlist the services of a wedding planner. Just remember this is your happy moment, so stress should not be an option. And once again, Congratulations!
