God may have kept what happens in his hands but NEVER FORGET how we face it is in our hands.

Life brings us to a crossroad time and again. We face challenges, which can be fought with a strong determination to overcome it or let destiny overcome us.

There are people who fight the toughest situation with their determination and than some that leave things to destiny.

Mary my friend and my inspiration is one such person who has fought destiny at every crossroad, with her strong determination to be who she wanted to be no matter what.

Working as a Graphic Designer after completing her Masters she is living proof of a strong will power, in spite of her limitations of being on the wheelchair from the age of 17.

March 11th, 1995 the day that I will never forget, the day that was the end of our innocence. Before that day barely did I know anything more about the spinal cord other than that it was a part of our body. This was the day Mary met with an accident that caused a spinal cord injury, an injury that paralyzed her body waist down.

From the day she found out that this was not a minor accident to today, she has strengthened her will power to fight her battle with her destiny with a smile each day. The truth is each day is tougher than yesterday, whether it is commuting to work or going out with friends. Yet she has shown all of us in the past years that what happens in life is not the end of things there is still another chance. We have a choice on how to face it.

Mary is a living example of this, she had her choice whether to sit back and do nothing and cry about what happened, sympathizing with herself or face it all with a strong determination. Making her upper body strong and overcome all her limitations. Try and live life normally, which was not easy. Each day was a battle for her whether it is transferring herself from the wheelchair to the car or sitting on her chair watching all her friends move on, she decided she will not let her life stand still no matter what life had brought to her.

Mary is one person who has always given. In spite of life taking away everything from her, whether it is moral support, love, understanding when she required it more than anyone of us. This is what makes her different and more importantly admirable. I have known her since we were in school and I must say that till today I have never seen her break down, never seen a tear in her eyes. This brings a simple question to my mind, if she can face something so big with a smile WHY CAN’T WE"? Why do we always make small things seem so big? Destiny is something that is not in our hands but with our determination we have a choice on how to face what destiny has in store for us.

Never blame destiny. If you fail it is because you haven’t heard the voice inside you. It is a simple message to stop and search within you, the strength to win.

Look at Mary she had nothing other than the “WANT TO WIN".

That want to live life normally and she did it. In no way is she any different than anyone of us, she completed her education, she got a job, has a lot of friends, She has not allowed life to live her………….but lived life on her terms.

We all need to do the same, live our life today not what happened in our life yesterday.

We all need to remember that no matter what happens we can win this battle of

Destiny Vs Determination………………. “like Mary did".

A small tribute to very special person

If we really try to make our life beautiful we can, no matter what challenges and hardships we encounter.. life is what we make it... nobody could help ourselves except yourself and faith in God
