The reserve is home to the BIG 5 as well as a vast array of other animals including giraffe, kudu, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest, tsessebe, gemsbok, waterbuck, wild dogs, honeybadgers and bush pigs and is rich in birdlife.
The area is rich in flora (similar to the fynbos of the Cape) and fauna including wild syringa (Burkea Africana), silver cluster leaf (Terminalia sericea), stamvrug, rock fig (Transvaal Milk Plum), (Ficus abutilifolia), paper bark albizia (Albizia Tanganyicensis) and mosses and ferns.
