Launching a special drive at the ongoing Perfect Health Mela being
organized at Laxmi Bai Nagar by organized by Heart Care Foundation of India in association with Health Department, Government of Delhi, World Fellowship of Religions, NDMC, MCD and other NGOs and public sectors from 19-23 October, Dr. K K Aggarwal, Padma Shri and Dr B C Roy National Awardee, President Heart Care Foundation of India & MTNL Perfect Health Mela said that doctors should prescribe drugs rationally.
Rational use of drug involves the identification of the correct medicine, giving in adequate dose and for the adequate period of time. Both under dose and overdose can cause drug resistance and cause serious side effects. Irrational use of drugs by quacks alone is the cause for over 1/3 death in the country which can be prevented.
Nursing Competitions Held
Divya Jyoti, the inter-nursing college/school competition, was held which included poster making, slogan writing, model display, quiz, role play.
Over 2000 nursing students of various nursing schools and colleges utilized the Perfect Health Mela venue as their community posting. They not only helped in examining & vaccinating the patients but also learnt about social counseling, stage management and many aspects of personality development. Apart from students a group of over 30 teachers coordinated the event.
Defining a nurse Dr Aggarwal said that a NURSE is noble, understanding, responsible, simple and efficient healthcare provider.
First aid classes
Hourly chest compression cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes are being held in the mela. Death is reversible provided chest compression at the rate of 100 per minute are given over 10 minutes and within 10 minutes of cardiac arrest (of clinical death).
General public need to be trained only how to do cardiac massage and they need not learn the ABCs of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in detail.
Sports drugs abuse awareness at the mela
Abuse of Anabolic Steroid can cause liver tumors, cancer, fluid retention, high blood pressure, increase in bad cholesterol and decrease in good cholesterol, acne and kidney tumors. In men they can cause shrinking of testicles, reduced sperm count, infertility, baldness, development of breasts and increased risk of prostate cancer. In women, they can cause growth of facial hair, male pattern baldness, changes in or cessation of the menstrual cycle, enlargement of the clitoris and deepened voice. In adolescents, they can cause growth retardation, premature skeletal maturation, and accelerate puberty changes. The misuse can also cause mood swings, maniac-like symptoms, depression, paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions and impaired judgment.”
Keep my Delhi Clean
Mrs. Rajni Abbi, Mayor of Delhi, hosted an evening tea party for the organizers of MTNL Perfect Health Mela 2011 at the Mayor House. The party led by the Padmashri & Dr. B.C. Roy National Awardee, Dr. KK Aggarwal, was attended by over 60 people.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Abbi said that her priority is to keep Delhi clean. She requested all the members of Heart Care Foundation of India to motivate all people to keep their house and neighboring roads clean and healthy. She said that for maintaining clear Delhi, people give their suggestions and complaints in the MCD Official Face book page.
The delegation offered MCD to train MCD teachers for six minute micro yoga technique and also to start a campaign of making Delhi disability free.
Important persons who were present were Dr. N.K. Yadav, MHO, MCD; Mr. Satish Upadhyay, BJP State Vice President, Mr. Anand Bhatnagar, Mr. K Sarin, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Manoj Kumar.
Celebrities visits mela
A special discussion was organised in the mela and participated by Padmashri & Dr. B.C. Roy National Awardeee; Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Bone and Joint Specialist; Mr. Nikit, Fashion Designer and Nancy Aerobic Trainer. It was emphasized that school children joining competitive sports should undergo cardiac evaluation. After the age of 40, no exercise should be started without medical clearance.
Speaking to a gathering of over 1500 people, Niket Mishra, Delhi based noted fashion designer, said that fashion is a part and parcel of health. It helps in outer beauty and inner happiness. Health is very important to be fashionable. As is said, it is very important to keep fresh for creation of innovative designs.
Nancy Holistic Therapist, said that health is extremely important and any ailments can be looked at holistically. Healing, positive thinking and affirmation are extremely important in everyday life. If you have ailments then positive outlook will decrease. I have many clients who are suffering from different ailments and through healing with alternative therapies, positive thinking, they were cured. There is nothing without health.
Former Indian Cricketer and former Member of Parliament, Chetan Chauhan, said that fitness and sports are inter-related. Sports people should not indulge in smoking, drinking alcohol or any other drug.
Bharti Taneja, noted beauty specialist, visited the mela and gave lecture and tips on hair and nail care. Addressing the gathering of nurses, she said that nail and hair care is very important in routine nursing care.
