Breitling Navitimer has an automatic mechanical movement. It uses the Breitling 23 caliber with 25 jewels running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (vph). It is a COSC-certified chronometer. The functions it provides are the hour, minute, small seconds, date, as well as a chronograph with three counters.

It also runs on a 42 hours power reserve function. Its counters present on the dial are the ¼ seconds located at 9, 30 minutes counter at 3, and the 12 hours sub-dial at 6. There is also a tachometer with 1/100 scale that uses the slide-rule flange on the outer ring of the dial, which also contains the printed minute tracks with a division of 1/5 second. The case comes in four versions: steel, steel and gold, 18K yellow-gold, and white gold.

Its diameter is 41.8mm and a thickness of 14.6mm. Its sapphire crystal is curved and uses anti-reflective on its both sides. The bezel can be turned bi-directionally. Its crown is non-screw locked and with two gaskets. The caseback has engraved logo and a temperature scale for conversion between Degree Celsius and Fahrenheit.

  • Steel case: Black or blue dials with silver subdials
  • Steel and gold: silver dial with gold subdial, or blue dial with silver subdials
  • Yellow-gold: black dial with silver subdials
  • White gold: silver dial with silver subdials

The subdials are all decorated with circular threads. It uses rhodium-plated luminescent baton hands for the steel case and white gold case. And gold for central hands and rhodium-plated for subdial hands in steel and gold case as well as the yellow-gold case.

The Arabic numerals are luminescent too. It comes in either crocodile leather straps or bracelets. The bracelets are only available for the steel case and the steel and gold case.
