Light Emitting Diodes, L.E.D.s, are rapidly replacing conventional light bulbs in a variety of applications including traffic lights, brake lights, and large holiday lighting displays.

L.E.D.s are constructed from tiny solid-state chips similar to those used in computers. These chips directly convert electricity to light without the use of a filament or glass bulb. Instead, the chips are encapsulated in solid plastic that can be made into a variety of shapes and sizes.

As a general rule, bigger bulbs use more electricity. For every hour they are turned on, (C-7) bulbs use between 4 and 10 watt-hours per bulb. This is at least 10 times the electricity used in an hour by 0.4 watt mini-light bulbs. The L.E.D lights draw only a tenth as much electricity as mini-lights, at 0.04 watts per bulb.

Cities, towns are now considering adding commercial L.E.D products and are doing an energy cost and benefit analysis before purchasing as the upfront costs of L.E.D products are significantly higher. L.E.D light strands use such a small amount of energy that you can connect up to 120 commercial light sets.

Since L.E.D.s have no filament, there is nothing to burn out and no need for a breakable bulb. Without the burning filament, very little heat is produced.

Below are several features and benefits of L.E.D's • LED's achieve high brightness with only a small fraction of energy.

• Instead of consuming about 50 Watts per string of 100 (conventional mini-lights), L.E.D. lights use only a few Watts of power.

• The savings of up to 90% in electricity quickly adds up.

• L.E.D. lights represent the newest breakthrough in lighting technology. L.E.D. lights are a low-maintenance, energy efficient solution for anyone looking for dynamic lighting displays. L.ED lights come in a variety of styles and array of colors.

• More reasons why L.E.D. is right for you:

• Solid-state reliability • Rated for up to 200,000 hours of use • No glass bulbs to break • No filaments to burn out • Up to 90% more energy efficiency • Nearly indestructible, solid epoxy lenses • Rust proof, Zinc-coated lamp contacts • Uses standard house current • Lamps always remain cool to the touch Mike Streb is the expert for Holiday Lighting and Artificial Trees at Christmas Lights, Etc.
