Keith Steven Thurmond: Sharon Anne Thurmond, 34, of Magnolia, Texas was shot and killed, along with her boyfriend, Guy Sean Fernandez by her estranged husband, Keith Steven Thurmond in the home of Fernandes where she was then living with her 6 year old son. The boy was in the house when they were killed.
Court records list the following:
Thurmond was convicted and sentenced to death for the 2001 capital
murders of Sharon Anne Thurmond, his wife, and Guy Sean Fernandez. Sharon
Thurmond separated from her husband a few months before the murder. She
took their child and moved across the street to live with Guy Sean Fernandez.
The day of the murders, deputies served Thurmond with a protective order and
placed his six-year-old son in the custody of his wife. Thurmond was unhappy
that his wife was living across the street with another man. After the deputies
left with the child, Thurmond became very upset. He then shot and killed both
victims. (U.S Court of Appeals For The Fifth Circuit-Aug 7, 2009)
His appeals were rejected until the last chance and due to his attorney’s failure to file for it on time, he was denied the final appeal. On September 11, 2011, State District Judge Michael K. Mayes set March 7, 2012 as the execution date. This still stands at this writing.

Briley Piper: In April of 2000, Chester Allan Poage's body was found in Higgins Gulch west of Spearfish, South Dakota, stabbed and beaten. That's where more than a month earlier Elijah Page, Briley Piper and Darrel Hoadley took turns kicking him in the head 30 to 40 times. They stabbed him in the neck three times and pummeled him repeatedly with large rocks, making Poage beg for his life.
Briley Piper, from Anchorage, Alaska and Elijah Page, from Athens, Texas, both pleaded guilty to the murder of Poage and Circuit Judge Warren Johnson sentenced them to die by lethal injection. The third man, Darrel Hoadley, pleaded not guilty and received a sentence of life in prison. Page voluntarily ended his appeals and was executed on July 12…the first execution in South Dakota in 60 years.
Piper’s his date of execution was set for October 7-13 2008, but was stayed. After his final appeal, he was rescheduled for March 19, 2012. It is still scheduled so at this writing.
