The catastrophic oil spill in early 2010 played havoc with the many businesses in Gulf Shores, Alabama. A few actually closed shop because of the damage. But most  made the best of a bad situation that was possible and now have been rewarded for their efforts.

One such business is that of Hazel’s Seafood Restaurant located at 25311 Perdido Beach Boulevard in front of the Winn Dixie Shopping Center in beautiful Orange Beach. Hazel’s was established in 1986 and was purchased from the original owners by it’s current one, Wick Goldsmith, some 11 years ago. They received The People’s Choice Award for 9 consecutive years.

In an interview with the senior manager, Judy Fortune, she said they had completely recovered from the poor conditions of 2010 which she estimates to have been approximately 50% off their normal level of activity. The only thing which still seems to be a bother is that certain seafood prices have remained elevated. Crab legs have increased but are still available as a platter with two sides and a salad.

Their business is once again flourishing, not only because of their exceptional menu and very reasonable prices, but they have an ideal location on Perdido Beach Boulevard, which is Alabama Highway 182. This thoroughfare runs parallel with the beautiful Orange Beach, one of the finest the gulf has to offer.

Their offerings are exceptional, from morning to night. First, they offer an extensive buffet assortments for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or you may, if you prefer, order straight from the menu.

Oh my goodness, now I've got the itch to go back to the Gulf Coast! I love that area, I've been to Orange Beach, Ft. Walton Beach and Destin several times. It's so beautiful!

And I'm hungry too!

Thanks!

Indeed. Thanks for the comment, Jean. I have also been many times when younger but the last time was about 10 years ago. I really felt bad about the oil spill but I'm so thankful it wasn't worse than it was. I called Ms Fortune this morning while I was working on the article and they are all really thankful also. She says they have had one of their best seasons ever, this year.
