Getting old? I don’t think so!

I may not have the skip in my walk

Or the strength I once had as a lad.

However when I look at a star, it’s still

A discovery - I’ve yet! - To explain

My learning never ceases, curiosity

Is a blessing I’ve always had

I'm still at awe, at the wonders in the

world my interest lie in an endless domain

I’ll never be an old fogy, who claims to know

It all, and nothin - left to learn

For within the mysteries of life - lie answers to

Questions which are still impending

Troubles in our world, I cannot shun, - because

I have - a profound concern

The dream of peace and love is within as all - a

Dream that has no ending

I have no doubt there is a God, for all we are -

And see - is all of his creation

"125 year old man in Israel laughing"

Ev’n him, I wonder if he has a master plan, in

Which we are all a part

Are we here to seek salvation, or to make this

World our key vocation?

To live with love as our sole objective, when we

Die, we depart with a fulfillment within our heart

Really nice, David. You've a gift at writing poetry. The first few lines reminded me of Maya Angelou's work in Phenomenal Woman. Not sure you know it but it's Ohhh so lovely. As is this work from you. I can understand why my most recent submission would bring this one to the forefront of your mind. Thanks for making me aware of it. —The Champ!

You know Avis, reading your response I didn’t even have to leave the site to look up Maya Angelous work. I found her poems and the one you mention “Phenomenal Woman” that’s another thing relating to my poem It’s remarkable of the wonders all around us today. You of course remember the times we had to go to the library to look for something. Today the world is at our fingertips. Which brings to mind another one of my poems “let us give thanks” I believe you’ll like this one also. It’s in my articles somewhere.
