Halloween is a favorite holiday for kids. They love being able to dress in costumes, carve pumpkins and attend a party. A Halloween party idea for school age kids includes playing fun games. I have listed several fun games that you can play at either a school or home party.

The mummy wrap game calls for teams of four kids. One will become the mummy and the other three will wrap him or her in toilet paper. This is a timed game, so a loud kitchen timer works great. Give each team several rolls of toilet paper; set the timer for a couple of minutes and say GO. When the timer rings or you stay STOP, the team with the mummy who is wrapped the most is the winner.

Set up a miniature golf game either indoors or outdoors. You can use an empty tin can for the hole. It is a lot of fun if you can obtain large plastic bones for the clubs and draw an eye on a plastic golf ball. See who can make a hole in one.

Another physical activity is a Monster Tag and Capture game. You’ll need an area about the size of a volleyball court. The kids stand at one end of the line. One player, Frankenstein Monster, stands about six feet in front of the group (facing the same direction). The monster walks forward with the group following calling out Frankenstein are you alive? The monster stops, turns and points to one child saying who are you? The child may answer any Halloween creature (rat, bat, pumpkin, ghost, goblin black cat, etc.).

The monster than turns and the group continues to follow asking the same question. At any time a child answering the monster may say Frankenstein, and the monster chases the group back to the starting line. Establish a finish line, and someone needs to say Frankenstein before the monster reaches this line. Anyone tagged or caught by the monster goes to the centerline, and the game is repeated. The last players caught are the winners.

Another Halloween party idea is to have a Freeze Dance. Play Halloween songs like the Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes to play this game with. Have a dance contest with the winners being who can dance the silliest, slowest, fastest, etc.
