Here is a useful checklist to help you contact all those people and utilities, to let them know of your forthcoming change of address.

Keep a diary handy while you are moving. I like to start a 'Moving Diary' dedicated to the move. I put all relevant notes and dates in it. Write in important dates and what should be or have happened by that date. This sort of diary really helps to relive the stress of moving as you can quickly lay your hand on a blueprint of your move and can quickly check to see if something is due to happen.

Of course you need all the services and utilities to be working right up to the moment that you leave your old property and working in the new property too. Nowadays you can inform the utilities companies of you proposed move date and then confirm closer to the day.

Take a reading of the Electricity, gas and, if you have one, water meter on the day that you are leaving your property. Put these readings into your diary and call the companies on the following day. Chances are that you will be pretty busy and may not remember to make all the different phone calls all on moving day.

Make sure that your insurance covers you right up to the day that you leave your old property and ensure that you have organised the insurance for your new property. Don't take a chance and hope that nothing will happen to you ... you will feel sick if it does.

I was looking for a quick, simple listing of what all I need to do when I move.  This was the quick check list I needed.  Thanks so much.

I found this to be a very helpful list. So far all I have added to it is my church, my pharmacy, and a reminder to get an updated voter registration card. Thank you!

Great list!

Don't forget anywhere that you have a pet registered, like a pet insurance company, veterinarian, or a microchip registry!
