What if you could access the most important real estate in town…and automatically convert it to huge checks for yourself on a regular basis?   How would you do that?  Networking, more prospecting, mailings?  What if I told you there’s a more direct and powerful way…and you could start right now for no cost.  You’d probably be a little skeptical…and a little curious at the same time.  After all, you probably don’t believe in a magic pill, but just in case… wouldn’t you want to know?

OK, I admit…this is a bit of a word game…and I’m taking liberties with the term “real estate," but the fact is, the most important real estate in the world (for you) is between your ears…most specifically it’s that entity we call your brain or your mind.

Your mind is where it all starts…where you create huge checks and a prosperous lifestyle,  or where you create poverty and despair.  It’s always your choice.  The problem is, if you’re like most of us, you acknowledge this concept, but then continue on pretty much like always.  On the other hand, if you choose to move to a more balanced position by investing in positive thoughts, you are able to weather the ups and downs of your business from a more detached perspective.  And when that happens,  your business begins to be fun and enjoyable.

Considering that the dominant trend of things is negative (just listen to the news, or hang out in your office for awhile), you must take specific and conscious actions to create the mental balance which allows for detachment.  There are a variety of ways to do this:

  1. Make a commitment to saying or writing affirmations on a daily basis.
  2. Make your daily affirmation practice more powerful by chanting affirmations with a like-minded partner every morning.
  3. Set your watch to beep on the hour to remind you to take regular affirmation breaks throughout the day.
  4. Select some specific short affirmations for the week (or the day) and write them while you are waiting for the phone to ring.  Your calls will be more positive and productive.
  5. Purchase several copies of a book of daily inspirational messages, and keep them readily available at home, in your office and in your car (you never know when a negative thought might hit).  When a negative moment happens (your buyer stands you up, the appraisal comes in low, the seller pulls his listing), take out the book and either reread today’s entry or open to a “random" page and be amazed to find just the perfect message to get you back on track.
  6. Purchase (or create your own on index cards) a deck of inspirational affirmation cards with one thought on each card.  Carry them in your pocket or purse to review when you are stopped in traffic or waiting in line. They can also be posted on your computer monitor, your refrigerator, your bathroom mirror, or your car’s visor.

Is it worth it to invest in positive mental balance?  Absolutely.  Consider the other real estate you invest in,  your personal home, a rental property, or one of your listings.  Chances are if you own the property you do regular upkeep and maintenance as well as needed renovations to the structure and the landscaping.  If it’s your listing, you invest time, energy and money to assure a quick sale at the best price.

Yet the potential for return on all of these properties combined doesn’t come close to what you can create with regular investment in a positive mindset.  Choose to consciously invest in the most important real estate you own,  and reap the rewards!
